The North Sea String Quartet is currently the leading Dutch jazz string quartet, known for their innovative approach to the classic string quartet. Combining improvisation, unique playing styles, and influences from modern jazz, world music, classical, and EDM, they bring a fresh perspective to the genre. Their work builds on the tradition started by the Turtle Island Quartet in 1985.
The quartet has performed internationally, collaborating with artists such as Trio da Kali, Roland Satterwhite, Lilian Vieira, Javier Infante, and Samora Pinderhughes. They have also played at major festivals including North Sea Jazz and Salzburg Jazz & the City. Their debut album showcases their original compositions and dynamic improvisations.
