The Martin Listabarth Trio stands for a distinctive and unmistakable sound: catchy, contemporary jazz infused with subtle influences from classical music and pop. Their songs effortlessly tell stories without words – inspired by cities and landscapes, people and personal encounters.
In 2023, the trio released their debut album „Postcards“ – a collection of pieces full of infectious curiosity and musical discovery, inspired by places as diverse as a metro station in Madrid, midnight in Istanbul, or a cemetery in Paris. In February 2025, they followed up with the release of their live album „Live in Vienna“, featuring handpicked highlights from their captivating concert at Vienna’s renowned “Porgy & Bess” in April 2024.
Alongside pieces from Postcards, the album also includes long-standing trio favorites, such as a homage to a Prater carousel or to football legend Diego Maradona. Known for their intuitive musical communication and dynamic stage presence, the trio has been captivating audiences at jazz festivals and concerts across Europe for several years. With great joy and playfulness, the three musicians – Martin Listabarth (piano), Gidi Kalchhauser (bass), and Sebastian Simsa (drums) – create a musical arc that ranges from intimate and melancholic moments to exuberant and humorous ones.
