Reunion Band feat. Greg Osby

/ Reunion Band feat. Greg Osby

Reunion Band ft. Greg Osby & Hildegunn Øiseth is more than a concert — it is a musical journey through cultures that merges jazz mastery with the energy and diversity of the world. This international collective, composed of artists from the USA, Poland, Lebanon, Norway and Cuba, creates a unique sonic space where jazz becomes a universal language of connection.

At the helm of the ensemble is Dorota Piotrowska, jazz drummer, composer and cultural entrepreneur with an international career bridging New York and Europe. A graduate of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York, she has performed in jazz clubs and renowned halls such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center alongside renowned classical composers and conductors, and collaborated with leading jazz masters: Jeremy Pelt, Steve Carrington, Luques and Zaccai Curtis, Rory Stuart, Anthony Wonsey, Nioka Workman and Firey String Sistas and many others. In Poland, she recorded Mahalia Jackson in Memoriam with soul legend Ewa Uryga and the Curtis Brothers, and later joined Danish vocalist Cæcilie Norby’s European Sisters in Jazz.  Through her passion and determination, Piotrowska has built bridges between continents. Her vision gave rise to Reunion Band, a project that seamlessly weaves together diverse musical traditions into one cohesive and inspiring whole.

Reunion Band feat. Greg Osby is a project that not only explores the richness of world cultures but also places center stage one of the most influential saxophonists in contemporary jazz — Greg Osby. His presence elevates this concert to something exceptional, prestigious, and deeply artistic — ready for the most important festival stages and concert halls.

Greg Osby is a living legend: an alto and soprano saxophonist, composer, producer, and artist who has shaped the sound of modern jazz since the 1980s. He began his career at the renowned Berklee College of Music, and in 1985 moved to New York — the jazz capital of the world — where he immediately made his mark as one of the most original voices of the younger generation. He has collaborated with giants such as Herbie Hancock, Andrew Hill, Jack DeJohnette, Jim Hall, Geri Allen, and Dizzy Gillespie.

Among the outstanding musicians of the project is also Hildegunn Øiseth, a Norwegian trumpeter who, after her studies, settled in South Africa, where she played with the band Uhambo, releasing two albums. She has performed in Malaysia, Pakistan, and the Middle East. In 2009, she released her debut album Hildring, in which she used the traditional Norwegian instrument bukkehorn (goat horn), blending its sound with electronics. She is a member of the Trondheim Jazz Orchestraand Marilyn Mazur’s Shamania, and since 2012 she has represented Norway at the JazzBaltica festival.

Ameen Saleem, a double bassist from the USA, is an accomplished artist with extensive stage experience, known for his work with Roy Hargrove and many other top musicians. His playing is marked by depth and sophistication, providing a strong rhythmic foundation for the ensemble.

Tarek Yamani, a Lebanese pianist and composer, is the recipient of the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Composer’s Award. His music uniquely blends jazz with Arabic musical traditions, creating a sound that transcends cultural boundaries.

Barbaro Crespo, known as Machito, is a Cuban percussionist distinguished by his original musical language and masterful percussion skills. For over 15 years, he has performed at festivals, in theaters, on television, and at major events in Havana and internationally. Since 2013, he has been a member of Cuba’s most popular rumba group, Adonis y Osain del Monte, and from 2017 to 2020, he was part of the French-Cuban afro-jazz project ¿Que vola?
